CHAD NORMAN DAY

President and Spokesperson, Tahltan Central Government (TCG)
BIOGRAPHY

Chad is a dedicated advocate for Indigenous rights, the stewardship of Indigenous territories, and the advancement of sustainable practices. Born in Vancouver, and raised between Smithers and Telegraph Creek in Northern British Columbia, he is a proud member of the Tahltan Nation. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in First Nation Studies and Political Science from the University of Alberta and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Victoria.

As President and Spokesperson of the Tahltan Central Government (TCG) for a decade, he won four consecutive elections following his initial role as an elected Councillor on the Tahltan Band Council, reflecting his deep-rooted commitment to serving his people as an elected official for twelve consecutive years. Chad was the youngest Tahltan President ever elected and served in the role longer than any Tahltan President in history.

Leading the TCG, Chad transformed the government to better serve the Tahltan Nation, which spans 11% of British Columbia’s land area and includes approximately 4,000 members. His leadership saw the TCG grow in capacity, financial stability, and self-governance. Chad restructured the organization, expanding the staff from five to fifty-five employees, establishing new departments, and negotiating landmark agreements with industry partners, neighboring Indigenous peoples and government to prioritize sustainable practices and community benefit.

President Day started his own consulting company, Thadu Consulting Corporation, in 2024 following his illustrious political career. Committed to fostering partnerships that align with Indigenous values, Chad has worked with responsible industries to create economic opportunities that respect both the land and the culture of Indigenous peoples.

Chad is also passionate about mentoring youth, inspiring them to lead healthy, fulfilling lives that honor their Indigenous heritage. Proud to be a Father to children of Tahltan, Wet’suwet’en, and Filipino descent, Chad instills in them the resilience and cultural pride that guide his own path.
