Jennifer Constant is a member of Mattagami First Nation. She is an active representative of First Nation issues with a focus on promotion, advancement and advocacy of First Nation objectives and initiatives.
Jennifer has been involved with many boards and committees over the years.
She is an elected leader for her community, and started her political career in 2003 where she was elected for nine consecutive terms as a Councillor. In 2023, she was elected as the Chief of her Nation, and follows a long line of Chiefs in her family lineage.
For over 20 years, Jennifer has been involved in advocating for participation & protection of traditional territorial rights and stewardship of resources within Mattagami First Nations’ traditional territories.
She is also a negotiator for her community in matters such as Impact Benefits Agreements, funding agreements, and business relations.
Jennifer is a recipient of a 2012 Timmins Young Professionals Award and the 2024 Women In Mining Sudbury’s Indigenous Trailblazer Award.
