Kirk Petroski has deep roots in Northern Ontario growing up in the traditional lands of the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation, and Matachewan First Nation (Timmins) and raising his family and growing his global company from the traditional lands of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Wahnapitae First Nation (Sudbury). Kirk has over 30 years of experience in the mining and mining technology industry from early-stage mining exploration to operational technology and was a pioneer on remote data collection and reporting for mining dating back to 1996. Kirk completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Sudbury at Laurentian University.
Kirk is Founder and Executive Chairman of SYMX.AI (formerly Symboticware) a Northern Ontario company that has risen to global attention through its digital and AI platform. Kirk has extensive experience leading and supporting industry and government collaborations and partnerships with a focus on technology development and successful adoption as well as supporting follow on venture capital for successful scale-up.
Kirk is an associate mentor with Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Vancouver – Minerals, an advisor and investor to several mining tech start-ups, a member of the Northern Ontario Angels and a past president of MineConnect. Kirk has also served on the Board of Regents of University of Sudbury up until 2021, when its educational mandate was to foster a tri cultural learning experience through Indigenous, Francophone and Anglophone teachings. Kirk is an avid nature seeker from his time as a child, working in the bush of the Northern Ontario and today finds time to paddle and enjoy time with family and friends or just alone in nature.
